Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Bettie mobile application and the website located at bettie.app (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Bettie (“we,” “our,” or “us”).

By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Use of the Service

Bettie is a personal health and meal-logging tool intended for informational purposes only. The carbohydrate estimates, glucose insights, and nutritional information provided by the Service are estimates and should not be relied upon as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.

2. Accounts

Access to the Service requires a user account authenticated via Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@bettie.app if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.

3. Auto-Renewing Subscriptions

Bettie offers auto-renewing subscriptions (“Bettie Pro”) that unlock full access to all features of the Service. The following terms apply to all subscription purchases:

• Subscription title: Bettie Pro
• Available plans: Monthly (billed each month) and Annual (billed once per year). Exact pricing is displayed in the app at the time of purchase and may vary by country.
• Free trial: Where offered, a free trial period is available. Payment will not be charged until the trial ends. Cancel at any time before the trial expires to avoid being charged.
• Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account (App Store) or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase, or upon completion of any applicable free trial.
• Auto-renewal: Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings (App Store or Google Play). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.
• Refunds: All purchases are subject to the refund policy of the respective app store (Apple App Store or Google Play). We do not process refunds directly.
• Price changes: We may change subscription prices with notice. If a price increases, we will notify you in advance and your subscription will not renew at the new price without your consent.

Subscription management and cancellation can be done at any time through your device's account settings:

• iOS: Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions
• Android: Google Play Store > Account > Subscriptions

4. Health Disclaimer

Bettie provides carbohydrate estimates and glucose correlation insights for personal informational purposes only. This information is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making any changes to your diet, medication, or health management.

We make no warranties as to the accuracy of carbohydrate estimates or nutritional information. Estimates are generated by AI models and may contain errors.

5. Third-Party AI Services and Data Sharing

The Service uses third-party artificial intelligence services to power core features. By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to the following data sharing:

• OpenAI — meal descriptions, food names, chat messages, meal history context, glucose summaries (mg/dL averages and time-in-range when used in chat), receipt/menu photos (for item extraction), and approximate location data (for cuisine classification) are sent to OpenAI. No account identifiers (name, email, or user ID) are sent. OpenAI processes this data under their API usage policies and does not use API data to train their models.
• Tasty API — meal photos and text descriptions are sent to Tasty API for nutritional analysis and carbohydrate estimation. No account information or health data is included.

You will be asked to provide explicit consent before your data is shared with these services. You may review our full Privacy Policy for details on how data is collected, used, and protected.

6. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service (such as meal photos and descriptions). By submitting content, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

You agree not to submit any content that is unlawful, harmful, or infringes the rights of any third party.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, software, and content (excluding user-submitted content), is owned by Bettie and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our prior written permission.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bettie shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to damages for loss of data, revenue, or profits, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile > Delete Account).

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts applicable to your place of residence, to the extent permitted by law.
